Tura, Dec 19: After repeated attacks against her functioning by some of the striking employees, the Secretary of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Smt. Rikse R Marak has filed a legal suit against members of the GHADC workers union known as the Non-Gazetted Employees Association including an online news website for blaming and tarnishing her name in stories of corruption and mismanagement without any evidence.

The advocate for the GHADC Secretary Mrs Rikse R Marak, has given three days time for the leaders of NGEA and the online media house to tender an unconditional apology in newspapers in the state for three consecutive days and to stop all publication of corruption allegations which are without any evidence.

Meghalaya High Court advocate Smt. L Ralte issued the legal notice to all five accusing them of making

several false, baseless, fictitious, concocted and frivolous allegations against her client including corruption. “However, the said allegations are levelled without proper information or any proof whatsoever” stated the notice.

The notice has been given to NGEA president Senora Johny Arengh, NGEA general secretary Brithen M Sangma, NGEA joint secretary Flaming B Marak, NGEA member Henyvirth Ch Marak as well as the editor of Meghalaya News24 for airing and publishing the NGEA contents without verifying the details.

The notice has demanded unconditional apology in the front page of three local daily newspapers for three successive editions and in the Meghalaya News24 website, within three days, and to refrain from making allegations without concrete proof.

Failing to do so would lead to an appropriate legal action, both civil and criminal, in a competent court of law and liable for all the costs and consequences, warned the legal notice.
