Shillong, Sept 15: The Executive Engineer (PHE), GSWS Division No-II, Mawphlang has informed that there will be no supply of water to Shillong till the evening of September 16, 2021 due to bursting of main supply pipeline.
In a press statement on Wednesday, he informed that the water supply has been disrupted due to bursting of the 750 mm dia main pipeline at Pomlum Village, Upper Shillong on September 13.
He explained that after commissioning of newly laid 1000 mm dia Gravity Main Line with effect from 2nd September, 2021 till date, the water quality was still turbid. So the department wanted to revert the water supply back to the existing 750 mm dia Gravity Main Line.
However, while releasing the water on the evening of 13th September, 2021 through the 750 mm dia main line, bursting of pipeline occurred at Pomlum Village, Upper Shillong. Due to the breakdown of 750 mm dia pipeline there will be no water supply till the evening of 16th September, 2021.
The areas which will be affected during the above period are Shillong Municipal Board areas, Shillong Cantonment Board areas, Nongthymmai and Mawlai.
The Executive Engineer said every effort is being made to complete the repair works for restoration of normal water supply by the evening of 16th September, 2021.
