SHILLONG, APR 4: BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek on Thursday termed the recent demand to remove the state president Rikman G Momin as unnecessary.
Speaking to reporters, Hek said the demand was unnecessary because Momin was only following directions of the central leadership of the party.
Momin was alleged to have failed to convince the party’s central leadership to contest the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya.
“I cannot blame Momin, our president (for this). He just took over recently only, so you understand, he has to carry on with the instruction and direction given by the centre,” he said.
He further defended the state president that he was just doing his duty and responsibility.
The BJP’s decision to support the National People’s Party (NPP) has not gone down well with the party workers as they feel that their hard work over the years “went to waste”.
