Shillong, March 3: A day after the announcement of the state assembly election results, the NPP is set to form the government following the support from the BJP on Thursday.

NPP Chief Conrad K Sangma had a closed door meeting with BJP Meghalaya president Ernest Mawrie and BJP national secretary Rituraj Sinha on Thursday evening. The NPP Chief later tweeted, “Thank you BJP Meghalaya for reaching out to the NPP and for extending your support to our party to form the Government. We will continue to work together to serve Meghalaya and its people”.

As per speculations, MDA 2.0 is ready to form the government with support from the 2 Independent candidates, 2 from the PDF and 2 from HSPDP. Along with the two BJP MLAs. The MDA 2.0 will have 34 MLAs and will call upon the Governor to claim their strength.

The UDP has remained mysteriously quiet on alliance with NPP, however sources informed that a delegation of the UDP met NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday night.

The NPP Chief will make a big announcement on Friday at 11 AM at his official residence.
