Dibrugarh, June 23: Three cadres affiliated with the NSCN, including two from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) and one from the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), have voluntarily surrendered before the Changlang District Police in Arunachal Pradesh.
The surrendered individuals have been identified as Jongham Saijong (43) of Old Jukhi village, Lomjan Pangtha (51) of Jongji Havi village, and Khangjung Khanglim (22) of Old Salang village.
According to the police, the three individuals decided to surrender following counselling efforts and with the support of their family members.
“With the support of their family members and our counselling efforts, they chose to renounce violence and return to the mainstream of society,” a police official said.
Meanwhile, security forces have launched massive operations against insurgents in the Tirap, Longding and Changlang districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
“So far, many insurgents from various groups have returned to the mainstream after security forces appealed to them to do so. The Assam Rifles and the police have been trying to help the youths return to the mainstream,” an official said.
Officials added that such surrenders are being encouraged through sustained outreach and enforcement measures, with the broader objective of fostering normalcy and supporting long-term development in the district.
