The government funded Rs. 50,000 per candidate through the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), aiming to support 300 nurses in the future.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on his official Japan visit met with the nurses, with the teachers and students involved in this initiative.

Twenty-seven nurses were trained with NAVIS in Bengaluru, with 25 passing N4 and N5 exams and receiving job offers. Five nurses have received visas, with two already in Japan. Fourteen other nurses will join institutes in Singapore in three months.

NAVIS, among four identified firms, conducted training through 10 Japanese teachers. The initiative began with a successful job fair in August 2023, which had over a thousand registrations. An MoU was signed with firms on December 7, 2023, to facilitate language training and job placements in Japan, the UK, Singapore, and the UAE.
