Must read

Shillong, July 19: A group of nurses in Meghalaya filed a formal complaint with the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, on Friday regarding the recent announcement of vacancies for contractual nurses.

The nurses expressed strong opposition to the contract-based recruitment, arguing that it is inappropriate for health workers to be employed on such terms and have requested the government to withdraw the announcement.

Lurstep Nongrum, a spokesperson for the group, said that despite their dedication and commitment to patient care, they are being offered low wages and job instability through these contracts.

In response, the Health Minister explained that the contract allocations were made by the finance department.

The Minister assured the nurses that she would address their concerns and arrange a follow-up meeting next week to discuss the matter further.
