Tura, May 14: Loyola College in collaboration with William Carey University organized a one-day seminar on “Impact of media in shaping the Indian political structure” on 13th May 2023 in Loyola Hall.
The Seminar focused on the current trends of media prevailing in our country and offers a road map for citizens to adopt measures towards professional ethics and values.
At the inaugural function, Dr Sunny Augustine, SJ, principal of Loyola College welcomed the dignitaries, academicians and research scholars from William Carey University and others to the seminar. Mrs Yaoreila Angkang, the HoD of Political Science department of William Carey University on her keynote address shared her research work and talked about the pattern and trends of media in India from a political perspective. She gave several examples of media trends prevailing during the British Raj in India.
Mr Imti Nungkum Ao, the HoD of Political Science of Loyola College gave the genesis of media in India and the significant role of media in propagating mass appeal during the post independent India.
Eleven research scholars presented their papers on various topics relating to the impact of media in shaping the Indian political structure.
Mr Bartholomeo R Marak gave detailed analyses on the Right of the press in India. He mentioned about the crime against the journalist when reporting the ground reality of certain events and incidents.
Ms Rama Pal further highlighted the relationships between media and politics in our Indian society. She talked about the various advantages and disadvantages of media in our society. She mentioned about the various un-censored television programs and advertisements.
Mrs Vishizonu Kulnu chaired the valedictory function and the summary of the seminar discussions was delivered by Mr Wansteer N Marak. the participants expressed their satisfaction over the depth of understanding on the topics generated by the speakers.
