Dibrugarh, Nov 19: One person was killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident at Bogibeel, Dibrugarh, on Tuesday.
The accident occurred around 4 p.m. when an Alto car (registration number AS03C3180) collided head-on with a Traveller (registration number AS22C6682) in the Bogibeel area.
“The Alto car was coming from the Jonai side, while the Traveller was heading from Dibrugarh. The Alto car lost control due to overspeeding and collided with the Traveller,” said a passenger who witnessed the incident.
According to police reports, one person died instantly, while four others sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH).
In a separate incident earlier this week, four people lost their lives in a road accident on the Tinsukia-Dibrugarh bypass. A Swift Dzire (registration number AS06AA2583) carrying six passengers, including a child, lost control and crashed into an under-construction culvert.
The accident, which occurred near Panitola on the bypass, resulted in the instant deaths of four passengers. The car was traveling from Dibrugarh’s Banipur Railway Station to Bordubi in Tinsukia when the tragedy happened.
