Exercise POORVI PRAHAR: Indian Armed Forces flex joint combat power in Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati, Nov 18: The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly conducted Exercise POORVI PRAHAR, a nine-day mega event in Arunachal Pradesh, demonstrating unparalleled warfighting prowess in near-real combat scenarios.

The comprehensive exercise tested and validated the effectiveness of joint structures in intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, rapid mobilization, deployment, redeployment, and operational logistics. The event highlighted the Indian Armed Forces’ ability to execute precision strikes and achieve mission success using advanced technologies.

A key feature of POORVI PRAHAR was the seamless integration between the three services and civil-military coordination, essential for operational success. Lt Gen R.C. Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, and Air Marshal I.S. Walia, Senior Staff Administrative Officer of the Eastern Air Command, actively participated, witnessing offensive manoeuvres supported by cutting-edge weaponry in mountainous terrain.

Lt Gen Tiwari emphasized the importance of joint mechanisms in enhancing synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Integrated joint operations across multiple domains were conducted on an unprecedented scale in the Eastern Theatre.

The exercise showcased advanced systems, including the M-777 Howitzer, the Navy’s P-8I Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance aircraft, swarm drones, FPV drones, and loitering munitions. Modern helicopters like the Chinook and Light Combat Helicopter Prachand further bolstered operational capabilities.

During the event, the armed forces demonstrated integrated combat capabilities across air, land, and sea domains. New-generation equipment enabled them to execute complex operations in challenging terrain and an intense Electronic Warfare environment. A tri-services combat freefall mission by special forces marked another highlight of the exercise.
