Tura, May 6: The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), in collaboration with OneLife Agricole Private Limited has launched ‘OneLife Farmers First’ initiative in the Garo Hills districts with an aim to empower the farmers of the region. The initiative is a joint endeavour between the GHADC Forest Department and OneLife Agricole.
Through this initiative, the GHADC and OneLife Agricole will spearhead the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), extend support for organic certification, furnish farm advisory solutions, institute central processing units, aid in establishing post-harvest units and warehouses, distribute organic Agri inputs, and facilitate connections between farmers and Agri lending institutes for financial support.
Sakshee Sharma, the Director of OneLife Agricole Private Limited, stated that “the organization will channelise the expertise and resources towards empowering the farmers of the Garo Hills through the ‘OneLife Farmers First’ initiative, our objective is to cultivate a sustainable ecosystem where farmers have unfettered access to the requisite tools, knowledge, and support to flourish in today’s agricultural milieu,”.
The Secretary to the Executive Committee, GHADC, commended the initiative, underscoring the pivotal role of collaboration between government agencies and private enterprises in driving meaningful change in agriculture, thereby bolstering and complementing conservation initiatives.
