Boko, Sept 23: Smile Foundation and TCPL packaging Limited jointly organised a free health check up camp at Satabari village in Chaygaon Industrial Growth Center on Sunday.
The health camp included free health and eye check up and distribution of eyeglasses for needy people free of cost. More than 150 people of the locality check-up their eyes and accordingly they also get medicines and eyeglasses.
HR Manager of the TCPL, Shyamal Dey, said “this is our 18th medical camp in the area, however we organised the free eye check-up camp for the first time and we got a very good response from the public.”
One of the local residents Dipak Nath (27 years) said that the check up was done by the advanced equipment and therefore he was satisfied with that.
“In the Boko area, there is no such kind of equipment. I have been working on the computer for more than 8 hours daily, so I got my eyes checked. However, due to lack of eye specialists in Boko I would have gone to Guwahati and spent around at least five thousand rupees. This camp saved me time and money,” he said.
Ophthalmologist Dr. Pranamee Das conducted the eye check-up camp and Dr. Inzamam and Dr. Monica Devi, conducted the general health check up camp.
Smile Foundation and TCPL provided free medicines, checked blood pressure and also conducted blood tests. Smile Foundation has been conducting such camps throughout the country and such welfare projects have benefitted over 300,000 underprivileged children and youth directly.
