“The number of applicants is overwhelming, with 22,742 candidates vying for 445 posts,” said Comingone Ymbon, Minister in charge of the Civil Defence and Home Guards Department.

The positions open for recruitment include four posts for Sub-Inspectors, 284 for Guardsmen, 17 for Drivers, and 140 for Non-Combatant Employees (NCE). Tests will be conducted at two locations: Shillong and Tura.

The PET was initially postponed due to unsatisfactory conditions at the test ground. Following complaints and a personal inspection, Ymbon decided to proceed with the PET between November 18 and 21.

Candidates who were previously scheduled for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and PET on October 4, 5, 7, and 8, along with those who completed the PMT and PET on October 2 and 3, must download updated admit cards. These will be available on the department’s official website (www.meghomeguards.gov.in) starting November 6, 2024.
