Jowai, Oct 6: In order to encourage students under Amlarem Constituency, over 300 meritorious students were on Thursday were felicitated with 7-Amlarem LA Constituency Academic Awards at Enowell Hall, Amlarem. The awards are the initiative of Home Minister and Local MLA, Lahkmen Rymbui.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui stated that as students one should not stop seeking knowledge but to continue pursuing information beyond textbooks and that can be done now with the help of the internet.
He pointed that there are many people coming from outside the state to work in Meghalaya because they see opportunities and this shows that there is no scarcity of work, thus, one needs to realize that one can be employed even outside the government sector.
Chief Secretary Donald P Wahlang lauded and thanked the teachers because it is they who shape the society and that the students present today are the result of the teachers’ hard work and dedication.
DGP Dr. LR Bishnoi stated that in the last 3 years there are no NDPS cases in the area and lauded the community for achieving this. He also urged upon the students that when they go out for further studies, they should work even harder and to stay away from drugs.
