Passengers escape unhurt after night bus overturns on NH-6 in Ri Bhoi

Nongpoh, Oct 16: Many passengers narrowly escaped a calamity after a night super bus they were travelling in overturned on National Highway 6 at Umling village in Ri Bhoi District on Wednesday morning.

It is alleged that the bus, bearing registration number ML-05-L-8998, overturned due to excessive speed at around 7 AM. It was alleged that the driver was driving recklessly as he might have been intoxicated while driving.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

However, the overturned bus caused a traffic jam that lasted for several hours, as it blocked both sides of the road.

Police personnel from Nongpoh Police Station and Traffic Police quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation, and removed the bus.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
