Law Minister M. Ampareen Lyngdoh reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to equal justice and free legal aid, facilitated through various legal service authorities. She highlighted the court’s role in making legal recourse more affordable and accessible, reducing the burden of travel and expense for the people while fostering trust in the judicial system.

Speaker Thomas A. Sangma said the convenience the new court would bring, eliminating the need for people to travel long distances to seek justice. Drawing a parallel between the role of a Speaker in the Assembly and judges in courts, he noted that both listen to arguments before making final decisions.

Chief Justice I.P. Mukerji, addressing the gathering virtually, spoke about the historical development of the court complex and the separation of the Sub-Divisional Court from the executive administration. He highlighted the importance and long-term benefits of the newly constructed facility for the justice system.
