PM Modi says dates for assembly election in Assam likely to be announce by ECI in first week of March

Guwahati, Feb 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the dates for the Assam Assembly election are likely to be announced by the Election Commission of India in the first week of March.

While addressing nearly 3 lakh people at Silapathar, PM Modi made the announcement where he launched a total of five projects worth more than Rs 3,000 crore.

PM Modi virtually inaugurated three major projects in the oil sector in Assam and the Dhemaji Engineering college. He also laid the foundation stone of Sualkuchi Engineering college through remotely.

The projects in the Oil sector of Assam, which were inaugurated by the PM Modi include IOCL-INDMAX unit at Bongaigaon Refinery, Oil India Limited’s (OIL) secondary Tank Farm at Madhuban, Dibrugarh and a Gas Compressor Station at Hebeda village in Makum of Tinsukia district.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “Our government that works with the motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas has led to rapid development of Assam,”.

PM Modi criticised the previous Congress government for not doing anything for the people of Assam. “The previous government had showed step-motherly attitude for Assam. After our government came into power we have launched several developmental schemes and work to strengthen the communication sector of Assam. We have built several bridges and several major roads projects in Assam and Northeast to develop Infrastructure development of Assam,”.

“Work such as completion of Bogibeel bridge and broad gauge railway line in North Bank have been done by our government,” PM Modi mentioned in his speech.

PM claimed the motto of his government is to empower the Northeast as a new engine for India’s growth.

PM Modi said, “Dhemaji Engineering College is the first engineering college in the North bank which was ignored by the previous government”.
