Shillong, Sep 12: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday thanked PM Modi for encouraging the team to visit the Meghalaya stall in the Craft Bazar at the G20 Summit.
Conrad said that PM showed keen interest in the silk products that were on display at the G20 International Craft Bazar in New Delhi, which was held on the sidelines of the recently-concluded G20 summit in New Delhi.
Taking to X CM wrote, “It was encouraging for the team to have Hon’ble PM, Sh. Narendra Modi ji visit the Meghalaya stall in the Craft Bazar at the G20 Summit. Hon’ble PM showed keen interest in the ethically sourced ‘Ryndia’ products, woven by women weavers in our State which is a brand that symbolizes women empowerment. Congratulations to the @deptoftextiles, C&RD Department and @MeghAgeLtd for beautifully displaying the unique art & crafts of the weavers & craftsmen of Meghalaya to the world.”

The products from the state were displayed under the Textiles Department and Community and Rural Development Weaves, Ryndia and Tribal Weaves, respectively.
There were also handicrafts from the Tourism Department and Meghalayan Age.
An official press release said, PM Modi visited the Meghalaya stall, interacted with the team and expressed keen interest in the organically produced, ethically sourced eri ryndia that is in tune with the sustainable development goals of climate action, women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
