Guwahati, June 3: Tinsukia police arrested three persons in connection with the alleged murder of a 20-year-old student of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) with a sharp weapon.
The deceased, identified as Aditya Bhumij, was also a resident of the same locality.
Meanwhile, police arrested the accused youths on Monday.
The accused identified as Abered Chetri, Gaurav Kumar and Ved Pait are residents of a tea garden area in Margherita.
Margherita Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Shambhavi Mishra said, “there was a fight between two groups and the victim was alone when these youths allegedly stabbed him with a Machete,”.
“They got involved in an argument with the ITI student and his friends on Sunday evening and about an hour later they came back with a Machete. Aditya was alone and was on his way back home when they stabbed him multiple times,” she said.
Aditya’s family members said that he went out in the early evening and when he didn’t return after 10 pm, they started searching for him and found him lying down near a forest area with severe injuries.
