Shillong, Oct 16: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday visited the fire incident site in Police Bazar. CM called the incident as tragic and very unfortunate incident and accident that took place. Conrad expressed his sympathy and concerns to families who have been affected by the fire incident.
CM mentioned that this incident had big potential to be a very disastrous situation because this was in the middle of a market area and a congested area and a difficult area for fire services and other services to come in to do their work. But in-spite of all the challenges especially the fire services, the Army, the Air Force, the BSF and Assam Rifles and others had come in and worked very hard.

“Despite all the challenges the department and the officials were able to contain and the fire did not spread beyond this particular building,” he said.
CM also thanked and appreciated the hard work of the officials and other departments for all their support.
He also said that a details investigation into this matter will be launched to find out the main cause of this incident.
CM also spoke about the challenges and how to overcome it in future.
He also said that a cabinet meeting on October 18 will be held to discuss the entire matter.
