Guwahati, Mar 21: Assam police arrested at least 13 individuals, including women from Nagaon, Assam for the alleged destruction of a temporary forest camp in Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Superintendent of Police of Nagaon district, along with paramilitary forces, carried out the operation.
The operation comes in response to a disturbing incident that occurred on Monday in Juria, Nagaon where hundreds of miscreants vandalized the forest department’s temporary camp in full view of forest officials. The group reportedly consisted of evicted families.
Following their apprehension the individuals were handed over to Tezpur police by the Juria police.
A search operation is underway in Juria for the remaining individuals suspected to be involved in the vandalism.
