Guwahati, Dec 27: Anand Mishra. officer of the Indian Police Service (IPS) currently serving as the Superintendent of Police in Lakhimpur, Assam, has officially tendered his resignation, effective from January 16, 2024.
According to sources, there is speculation that Mishra is considering a potential candidacy in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, specifically from the Buxar constituency in Bihar.
The announcement of his resignation was made through a formal letter addressed to the chief secretary. In the letter, SP Mishra conveyed his decision to step down from the IPS, expressing a desire for a life of freedom and independence. His letter stated, “This is to submit my unconditional resignation from the IPS to pursue a life of freedom and independence that I want to realize through various social services and other means that are beyond the mandate of IPS.”
Previously, in accordance with a governor’s notification, Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur, IPS Anand Mishra (RR-2011), and Superintendent of Police (Border-II) APS Randeep Kumar Baruah (DR-1993) were assigned to the Government of Manipur to assume responsibilities for the Special Investigation Teams (SITs) formed to address the incidents in Manipur, effective immediately.
IPS Mishra has earned a strong reputation in the state as one of the leading police officers consistently engaged in combating various issues, including the state’s drug war, cattle smuggling, and robbery.
His notable efforts have garnered him millions of internet followers, reflecting the widespread recognition of his dedication and impact.
