Agartala, Jan 10: Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday alleged the Left Front government for running a reign of terror during their previous rule in the state.
Saha said the believers of the political ideology of Lenin and Stalin should join the saffron party to wash away their sins.
While addressing a ‘Jana Viswas Yatra’ at Kakraban in Gomati, Saha said, “Our party is like River Ganga. We believe in the ideology of Pandit Deendayal ji. Those who still believe in the ideology of Lenin and Stalin, should join the BJP and take a dip into it to wash away their sins,”.
Tripura CM’s comments attracted severe criticism from Opposition parties that claimed the BJP was trying to lure leaders of other parties.
“During the rule of Left Front government a total of 69 Opposition workers were killed in South Tripura district,” Saha said.
Tripura CM also launched a scathing attack on the Congress for its alleged closeness to one-rival Left.
Saha criticised the Trinamool Congres, claiming that it has proven to be more violent than the erstwhile Communist government in West Bengal.
He alleged that former Soviet supremo Joseph Stalin killed more people than Hitler and the Communists followed a similar strategy of violence and terror in Tripura during their 25-year rule till 2018.
Ahead of Assembly polls in Tripura, the main political parties in Tripura have geared up and started their campaigning to lure voters through their various activities.
