Aizawl, April 24: The 2nd Mizoram Film Awards, organized by the Mizoram Film Development Society (MFDS) in collaboration with the Information and Public Relations Department, Govt. of Mizoram, took place on April 23 with much pomp and grandeur. Kenneth Chawngliana, Vice Chairman of the Mizoram State Planning Board, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while F. Sanglura, Executive Engineer of the PHE Department, was honored as the guest of honor.
The red carpet opening ceremony was hosted by Esther Lalmuanpuii, setting the stage for a glamorous event. The awards ceremony itself, held in the final session, recognized and celebrated outstanding contributions to the local film industry.
In his address, Chief Guest Dr. Kenneth Chawngliana commended Mizoram’s rich film industry and talented actors. He urged filmmakers to continue their efforts in elevating Mizoram’s film scene to a higher level of professionalism. Accompanying him, Er. F. Sanglura also shared insights, and a technical report from the Mizoram Film Development Society shed light on the progress and challenges within the industry.
Notably, The Information & Public Relations Department has been the nodal department for film development in the state since 2012, allocating a budget of Rs. 20 lakhs each year for this purpose. The first Mizoram Film Awards were organized in 2018, and after a five-year gap, the 2nd Mizoram Film Awards for 2024 have been held once again.

3) Best Horror/Thriller Film – Nutei Thingpui Dawr
4) Best Educational Film – Ka U Liana
5) Best Director – Mapuia Chawngthu
6) Best Action Director – T.C. Lalrinsanga
7) Best Actor – Tommy Rosangliana
8) Best Actress – Ruthy Chenkual
9) Best Supporting Actor – David L. Sangmuana
10) Best Supporting Actress – Dr. Louis Hauhnar
11) Best Child Artiste – Samson Vanlaltanpuia
12) Best New Actor – Zohmingliana
13) Best New Actress – Florence Vanlalhriatzuali
14) Best Villain Actor – Aaron Malsawmdawngzuala
15) Best Villain Actress – Assy Chhangte
16) Best Male Comic – Zorammawia
17) Best Female Comic – H. Zorampari
18) Best Costume – Laltheri
19) Best Make-up – Nunna Thar
20) Best Cinematography – The Ghost Hunter
21) Best Editing – Nunna Thar
22) Best Script Writer – C. Hmingthangvunga
