Shillong, September 4 : The All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association (AMPSTA) organised a protest rally on Monday to demand from the government that it revive the Old Pension Scheme, which has been suspended since April 2010.
They are also demanding the payment of the fourth installment of 25 percent revised pay for deficit teachers, a regular monthly salary for the deficit school teachers, and quality education.
The peaceful protest rally was attended by hundreds of lower primary school teachers. It commenced at the Pynthorumkhrah Community Hall, proceeded to Polo, continued to City Hut Dhaba, and concluded with a return to the Pynthorumkhrah Community Hall.
Teachers of all the government and deficit-funded lower primary schools were requested to join the procession.
