Tura, May 4: The residents of West Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and Tura town got relief from the prolonged heat wave with rain spells on Saturday.
Rains accompanied with cool winds and thunderstorms, brought much-needed respite from the scorching heat that had gripped the region for several weeks.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted showers in the region from May 2nd.
Rains will also replenish water reservoirs which were dwindling due to the prolonged dry spell.
Residents of the region rejoiced the splash. However, the authorities have urged the citizens to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions during the inclement weather.
