Shillong, Oct 2: The Meghalaya Governor, Satya Pal Malik on Saturday led the Raj Bhavan officers and staff to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti in Raj Bhavan by offering floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation on the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Governor addressed the officers and staff and recalled the sacrifices of the Mahatma in the nation’s struggle for freedom and lessening the pain of Partition. He distributed blankets to the staff of Raj Bhavan to mark the august occasion.
He also appealed for a bigger celebration from now on to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as the nation celebrates 75 years of Independence with ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
