Tura, Oct 2 : The youngest son of Late E K Mawlong, former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, has been killed in a tragic accident in which his personal Bolero vehicle suddenly burst into flames at Umden village, while travelling from Tura to Shillong for the weekend on Saturday afternoon.

How the explosion occurred is left to experts but preliminary reports indicate that there was probably a technical short circuit either with the vehicle air conditioner or a leaking fuel pipe that caused a fire which quickly spread inside the vehicle taking the young life of the professor.

Late Ferdinand B Lyngdoh was the Assistant Professor in charge of the Department of Basic Science and Humanities here at the College of Community Science in Sangsanggre, Tura.

He is the younger brother of Congress MLA from Umroi George Lyngdoh.
