SHILLONG, JUN 22: The Block Development Officer of Pynursla C&RD Block has issued a public advisory warning residents to stay away from a landslide-affected site, citing continued instability and the risk of further slope failure during the monsoon.
Dr L Kharmon in an advisory released on Monday said the area remains prone to additional landslides, falling debris and ground collapse.
Entry or gathering near the site has been strictly prohibited as it poses a serious threat to life, safety and property.
The Block administration urged villagers under Pynursla Block to comply with all safety instructions and to respect barricades, warning signs and restricted zones demarcated around the affected stretch.

Residents were specifically asked to keep children, elderly persons and livestock away from the danger zone. The advisory also called for prompt reporting of any fresh ground movement, cracks or related hazards to local authorities so that preventive measures can be taken.
For commuters, the BDO advised avoiding the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem route until the situation stabilizes.
Safer alternatives have been suggested through Pynursla-Dawki-Amlarem or Pynursla-Nongjri-Sohra roads.
The advisory stressed that public cooperation is crucial to prevent accidents and ensure community safety during a period when hill slopes across the region remain fragile due to heavy rainfall.
