Guwahati, Dec 31: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday highlighted the transformative shift between the old and new India, emphasizing the evolution from a “Let it be” mindset to a proactive “Let’s do it” approach.
Singh was present at the occasion as the Chief Guest at Tezpur University’s 21st Convocation.
Singh commended Tezpur University for its commitment to providing quality education, taking a moment to elucidate the essence of a convocation, or Dikshyant, as a culmination of a student’s academic journey imbued with life skills and values to tackle life’s challenges.
He also urged graduating students to prioritize practical knowledge and underscored the pivotal role of character development in their academic pursuits. Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda, he emphasized that, unlike in the Western countries where a tailor shapes a gentleman, in Bharat, character is the cornerstone of a true gentleman.
Expanding his discourse beyond academia, Rajnath Singh delved into India’s holistic development, addressing both economic growth and advancements in medical infrastructure.
He outlined the vision of a New India, shedding light on the government’s initiatives to strengthen domestic defense manufacturing. Stressing the paramount role of youth in shaping Viksit Bharat (Developed India), Singh asserted that India’s journey to becoming an economic and military superpower is deeply rooted in confidence in the capabilities of its talented youth.
“To empower the youth and enhance their capabilities, our government has promoted a startup culture and innovation ecosystem,” he added.
