Ransom Sutnga pities Congress for lack of leadership, spreading negativity

Must read

Shillong, Feb 17: National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from North Shillong, Ransom Sutnga, on Friday said there is lack of leadership in Congress at central and state level.

“Initially, I aimed to contest from the Congress but because of the lack of leadership, I am compelled to contest from the NPP,” said Sutnga while speaking to reporters on Friday.

The Former PWD (Buildings) Executive Engineer (EE), however, said his decision to contest from the NPP is the right choice as there was little hope of winning from the Congress.

On the charge-sheet of the Congress against the NPP-led MDA government in which they have blamed dome collapse incident on Sutnga, the NPP nominee said the central leadership of Congress has come to the state only for few days and nothing good has come out of it, except for negative remarks, which shows the immaturity of the party’s leadership.

He further reasoned that the incident is already a closed chapter as the IIT-Guwahati has given its report, and several RTIs have been filed by the NGOs on it. He felt the Congress leadership should have done their homework correctly instead of blaming him for the incident.

Mentionably, the IIT-Guwahati probe revealed that there was lack of coordination between the different agencies executing the work and that the overall load of the dome was too heavy for it to sustain. IIT-Guwahati had specifically mentioned that if the HPC wants to go ahead and build a dome, it should be a lighter weight structure covered with CGI sheet.

“The Congress, whenever and wherever they go to any places, they should not make any negative or bad comments against anyone,” added Sutnga.
