Regional Committee of Meghalaya and Assam to visit the areas of Desh Domrea

Shillong, July 23: The Regional Committee of Meghalaya and Assam on Saturday has decided to visit the areas of Desh Domrea on August, this was decided after the meeting held on Saturday at Assam State Guest House, Koinadhara, Khanapara.

The meeting attended by Assam’s Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to discuss way forward in solving the long pending border of the two states. Meghalaya Dy CM was accompanied along by MLAs from Ri Bhoi, Sosthenes Sohtun MLA Jirang, Charles Marngar MLA Mawhati, Damanbait Lamare MLA Umroi, including Pynïaid Sing Syiem CEM of KHADC (member of the Regional Committee) and Arpit Upadhyay Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi District.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Deputy CM of Meghalaya and the Chairman of Regional Committee Prestone Tyngsong said that the meeting was held to discuss on solving the 3 areas of differences at Ri Bhoi including – Desh Domreah, ka Nongwah Mawtamur and Borduar.

He also informed that the Regional Committee from both Assam and Meghalaya will visit the areas under Desh Domreah on August 26 so as to find out an amicable solution to the inter-state border dispute.

Dy CM also informed that after visiting the three areas of differences at Ri Bhoi, the talks will continue for Block -II areas.

On microblogging page, Assam Cabinet Minister and Chairman of Assam Regional Committee, Atul Bora wrote, “The long pending inter-state border issues between Assam & Meghalaya are in the final stage of being resolved permanently”, also he informed, “DCs from both the states will submit a preliminary report and based on that a meeting of the RCs will be held on Aug 25 next. The RCs will jointly visit West Dimoria region on Aug 26”.
