Ri Bhoi launches pineapple processing unit to boost local livelihood

Nongpoh, Oct 30: The District Horticulture Officer of Ri Bhoi District inaugurated the Mawphrow pineapple processing unit and pineapple stock yard at Mawphrow village on Monday to enhance the livelihoods of the local community.

The project has been undertaken as part of the Provision to Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India for the year 2020-21, aimed to enhance the livelihoods of the local community and prevent pineapple wastage.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Mayral Born Syiem, MLA of Nongpoh Constituency and Chairman of the State Health Advisory Board, Government of Meghalaya, who served as the chief guest. D Sohtun, Director of Horticulture, Government of Meghalaya, Fn Sun, District Horticulture Officer Ri Bhoi District, D. Lyngdoh, District Agriculture Officer Ri Bhoi, and Anthony Maring, the headman of Mawphrow village, were among the notable attendees.
