Rise in vehicle theft: Blue Maruti 800 stolen from Williamnagar, investigation launched

Tura, Oct 29: In a concerning trend, vehicle thefts continue to surge in the Garo Hills region, causing alarm among residents and local authorities. The latest incident saw a blue Maruti car, parked within the compound of the Fire Service station in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills, stolen under the cover of darkness sometime past 1 o’clock on a Saturday night.

The time of the theft is said to be 1:30 AM and it was stolen from Williamnagar Fire service. The vehicle’s registration number is identified as AS-01-4584.

The rise in vehicle thefts has been a cause of growing concern, with this incident marking the second vehicle theft within recent weeks in Garo Hills.

Not long ago, a motorbike was reported stolen from the plain belt area of West Garo Hills. Also, a Mahindra Bolero vehicle belonging to the Catholic church was stolen from inside the compound of Tikrikilla parish in West Garo Hills.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the theft, and they are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the stolen vehicle to assist in the recovery effort. The stolen vehicle is described as a blue Maruti 800.

The plea for assistance has been shared widely on social media, accompanied by the hashtags #StolenCarAlert and #CommunityWatch.
