Tura, Oct 29: A harrowing incident on the main highway to Tura has left the people of the area shocked raising serious concerns about road safety. A vehicle was caught on camera dangerously swerving from left to right, posing a significant threat to commuters and pedestrians in the area on Sunday.
The incident came to light after a Samaritan, also the headmaster of Learning Sanctuary school identified as Tyrone D’Brass alerted Tura police about the dangerous driving on the road.
Tyrone was travelling on the same road at the time and managed to capture the dangerous driving episode on camera.
Soon a police team from Jengjal police station, 30 kms from Tura, managed to intercept the vehicle.
Upon inspection, it was discovered that both occupants of the vehicle were highly sedated from the effects of alcohol. The two individuals, local boys engaged in the maintenance of mobile towers, were apprehended by the police after they were extricated from the vehicle, where they were found slumped over.
Abraham T Sangma, the Superintendent of Police for West Garo Hills, commended the quick thinking of the school principal in alerting the police. He stated, “We are grateful to such Good Samaritans who help us in protecting civilian lives.”
