Midnight belongs to football: Meghalaya minister rallies fans ahead of FIFA World Cup final

Must read

Shillong, July 19: As football fever grips Meghalaya ahead of the FIFA World Cup final tonight, Sports Minister Wailadmiki Shylla has urged fans to get ready for a memorable night, calling on families and friends to come together for the title clash between Spain and Argentina.

Wailadmiki wrote, “Alright football family, the wait is almost over! Have your dinner early, squeeze in a quick nap if you can, or get your snacks and coffee ready because midnight belongs to football!”

The minister encouraged supporters to gather with family and friends, turn up the volume and soak in what he described as an unforgettable final, before asking fans the question dominating football conversations across the state: “Will Spain lift the trophy? Or will Argentina reign supreme?”

The post comes amid unprecedented excitement in football-crazy Meghalaya, where the state government has declared a holiday for educational institutions on Monday to allow students to watch the World Cup final without worrying about school the next morning.

With fan parks, giant screens and community viewing events planned across the state, Meghalaya is expected to witness another night of football celebrations as thousands stay awake to cheer for their favourite team.
