Kupup, Feb 16: Road accident in Kupup near Indo-China border kills one on Thursday. Six occupant were in a vehicle, of which 4 are critically injured and one is still missing.
27 year old Hishey Lhamu Sherpa has been declared dead.
While, 24 year old Kushwant Subba is still missing. The vehicle was plying from Pakyong heading towards 17th mile along the Jawaharlal Nehru Road. The accident was reported at Kupup around 4:30 pm yesterday due to excess fog and fragile weather condition.
Superintendent of Police Gangtok District, Karma Gyamtso said that, “A Private vehicle met with an accident at Kupup. Out of 6 occupants 4 are injured, 1 dead, 1 is still missing”
The injured are undergoing treatment at STNM Hospital in Gangtok. The injured include 33 year old Thupden Lhamu Sherpa, Sakuntala Sherpa (58), Ajit Banya (36) and Abay chettri (25).
