Jowai, June 21: The usually busy NH 6 appeared deserted on Friday as the road blockade, called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC), entered its third day. The JAC initiated an indefinite blockade due to the National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) failure to repair the severely deteriorated stretch from Tongseng to Ratacherra.
In response to the blockade, the NHAI has commenced repair work on the affected section of the highway. Despite this, the JAC has decided to continue with the blockade.
The poor condition of the road has caused significant difficulties for commuters and drivers, with the journey through the 20-kilometer stretch now taking approximately 3-4 days.
The JAC has announced that the blockade will persist for the next three days, further complicating travel for those who rely on this major route.
