Agartala, September 19: One person was detained by the staff of RPF from Jirania station on Monday evening and during search two 7.65 mm factory made pistols and four magazines were recovered from his possession said Inspector Dipak Datta of the RPF.
Datta added that the detained person who was later arrested had been identified as one Dipankar Sen of Devipur in Kamalasagar in Sepahijala district of Tripura.
According to the RPF official, Sen had paid Rs 30000 for each pistol at Dimapur in Nagaland and procured them from one Biswadeb, a resident of Hujai in Assam.
He added that the arrested arms dealer had boarded the Kanchanjunga Express from Lumbding station in Assam and was suppose to handover them to one Nandu Paul of Ichabazaar, close to the Agartala rail station.
The RPF official said that one of the pistols is US made and the other is China made and they were intended for smuggling to Bangladesh.
The arrested person will be handed over to the GRP and shall be treated under Arms Act.
