Shillong, Mar 17: A total of Rs 5 crore has been earmarked under the Inter State Border Areas Development Programme (ISBADP) for the year 2022-23, Minister in-charge Border Area Development Lahkmen Rymbui said on Thursday.

Rs 1150 lakh was also earmarked under the ISBADP of which Rs 500 lakh was earmarked for the year 2020-21 and Rs 550 lakh for the year 2021-22, Rymbui said while replying to a query raised by Nongpoh legislator Mayralborn Syiem in the Assembly.

He said the amount will subsequently be released to the different districts.

Syiem requested the government to increase the number of schemes under the ISBADP considering that three constituencies in Ri Bhoi district are bordering Assam.

To this, Rymbui said it is not only the BAD but there are many departments which are implementing various development schemes, which have benefited many villages in the border.
