SAFF marks 3rd Foundation Day with emphasis on peace and harmony

Shillong, Aug 10: The Shillong All Faith Forum (SAFF) commemorated its third anniversary on Thursday wit the theme of ‘Peace, Harmony, and Environment’, signifying the organization’s commitment to fostering unity and environmental consciousness.

The event was graced by Governor Phagu Chauhan as the chief guest. Also present at the commemorative occasion were President of SAFF, Bishop Purely Lyngdoh, and SAFF Vice President Naba Bhattacharjee, among other distinguished guests.

Established on August 10, 2020, in Laitumkhrah, Shillong, SAFF emerged as a response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic three years ago. Leaders from diverse faith, communities and individuals united to collectively confront this unprecedented crisis, extending support and guidance to various communities within Meghalaya. The fundamental ethos of SAFF is rooted in promoting peace, harmony, and upholding human dignity. The organization is dedicated to addressing societal needs and specific situations as they arise.

Governor Phagu Chauhan commended the SAFF for its vital role in creating an atmosphere of understanding and cooperation among different religions and communities. He lauded the forum’s efforts in uniting diverse belief systems under a common banner, fostering a sense of shared purpose and resilience.

The event not only celebrated SAFF’s three years of active engagement but also rekindled the commitment to its core principles of fostering peace, cultivating harmony, and nurturing the environment.
