New Delhi, June 9: Sarbananda Sonowal took oath as the Union Minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government, which is led by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
Sonowal, who made the people of Assam and Northeast proud, after regaining his position in the Union Ministry, resolved to take oath in the name of God today and continue to render dedicated service to the motherland.
President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Sarbananda Sonowal.
Speaking after the occasion, the MP-elect from Dibrugarh LSC in Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal said, “With utmost humility, I accept this opportunity to serve as an Union Minister in the NDA Govt led by our dynamic leader Narendra Modi ji, as the Prime Minister of India. It gives me immense pleasure and happiness for this opportunity to serve the people of this beautiful and dynamic country. On this historic occasion, when Narendra Modi ji led NDA to form the third consecutive government at the centre.” He further said, “I want to specially thank the people of Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency for bestowing their love, faith, trust and blessings to represent at the highest temple of democracy. With utmost sincerity, I would like to reaffirm and reiterate my absolute commitment to serve our country with complete dedication with support and blessings from the people.”
Sarbananda Sonowal further added, “Due to the unprecedented development achieved in the country during the 10 years of good governance under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the confidence and trust of the people in Modi ji’s leadership remains strong. Under Modi Ji’s leadership, India has transformed into the world’s fifth-largest economy. The Modi-led NDA government is committed to making India one of the top three economic superpowers in the near future. Each one of us in the Union Council of Ministers is dedicated to working tirelessly for the nation. India will now move swiftly towards new heights of peace, prosperity, and progress.”
Earlier, Sonowal served in the second NDA government under PM Narendra Modi as the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush.
Sonowal also served as the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in the first NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.
