Scenic beauty and infrastructure progress of Tura venues for National Games 2027 wows Inspectors from Delhi

Tura, October 15: A three-member inspection team from the Khelo India initiative under the Sports Authority of India (SAI), representing offices from Delhi and Guwahati, arrived in Tura, West Garo Hills, to assess the ongoing preparations and infrastructure development for the upcoming National Games 2027.

The inspection began at the Sunny Hills Indoor Hall, where Kho Kho and Netball will be played.

The team then proceeded to the P.A. Sangma Stadium, the designated venue for Volleyball and Football, before concluding their visit at the Pa Togan Nengminja Athletics Stadium, which drew admiration for its scenic location.

Accompanied by District Sports Officer Saljagrik M Marak, contractors, and engineers, the officials carried out a detailed review of the venues.

Following the inspection, the delegation expressed satisfaction with the overall progress but shared a few suggestions and sought clarity on the timelines for completion.

The contractors informed that: Sunny Hills Indoor Stadium is expected to be completed by January 2026.P.A. Sangma Indoor Hall is projected for completion by March 2026.

Pa Togan Nengminja Athletics Stadium is already ready just over all infrastructure is getting upgraded.

Addressing queries on the Games Village, a vital element for accommodating athletes, DSO Saljagrik M Marak said, “Our office has already conducted surveys to identify suitable accommodation options. While it is too early to make a formal announcement, we will provide an update soon.”

Speaking to Hub News, Marak added, “The visiting officials were pleased with the inspection and especially appreciated the natural beauty of the Pa Togan Nengminja Stadium. However, they also pointed out some minor issues related to approach roads and emphasized the importance of timely completion of infrastructure.”

The next round of inspections is scheduled for December 2025, when further progress will be reviewed.

As preparations intensify, Tura stands out not only for its developing sports infrastructure but also for offering a breathtaking backdrop for the National Games 2027.
