Shillong, May 31: The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MPDCL) has announced that there will be a planned power outage in several areas of Shillong from 10 am to 4 pm on June 1.
The affected areas include, whole of Mawprem, Upper Mawbah, Lower Mawbah, TB Hospital, Lummawbah, lewduh, Mission and adjoining areas, Wahthabru, Sunny Hill, Quallapaty, Lumdiengiri, part of Jaiaw Langsnging, Lama Villa, Garikhana, MES, Upper Lachumiere, part of Lower Lachumiere, whole of Laban, Lumparing, Madan Laban, Nong Malki, Oxford, Keating Road, part of Police Bazar, part of Umsohsun, whole of Malki, part of Dhankheti, part of Cleave Colony, whole of Umlyngka and Nongkseh.
The reason for the shutdown is preventive maintenance work on the 132/33 KV Mawlai grid sub-station and the 33/11 KV sub-stations. However, if the work is completed earlier, power supply may be restored before the specified time.
