Imphal, April 15: In a major crackdown on insurgent activities, security forces have apprehended six underground cadres and recovered 77 weapons, grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores during a series of operations across seven districts in Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence, the forces launched coordinated operations over the past weeks in vulnerable areas of Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East, Kakching, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, and Imphal West districts.
In Churachandpur’s Siden village, a joint team recovered three country-made mortars (pompis).

At Saiton Khunao village in Bishnupur district, security personnel retrieved 12 weapons.
In Imphal West’s Lamsang area, nine weapons were seized.

From Tokpaching in Kakching district, eight confiscated weapons and two IEDs were recovered.

These intensified operations follow the imposition of the President’s Rule in Manipur, with security forces ramping up efforts to curb insurgent activities across the state.
