Tura, July 26: Tura police has arrested self styled activist Jaynie Ningring Sangma of Rongkhon in what police say were over statements made in social media that they say fuelled the unrest on Monday evening.
Based on a series of WhatsApp posts put up in a group called Debate Hours, during the unfolding situation late Monday afternoon, she has been accused of inciting violence by the authorities.
One post that has gone viral is about a grenade being lobbed, claim police.
A series of posts in which Jaynie is constantly in communication with another woman identified as Rakhie Sangma has been obtained by police.
With her arrest the number of people under custody has risen to 35.
Meanwhile, all the arrested persons. Including Trinamool leader Richard Marak, were sent to the district sessions court on Wednesday.
