Imphal, Nov 30: Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with an attack on the Kakching police station that occurred on November 27, leaving two police personnel injured.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Naorem Jotish Singh (30), Kshetrimayum Rajiv Singh (50), Pravin Leishangthem (31), Pukhrambam Gopen (32), Naorem Sitaljit Singh (33), Wayengbam Johnson Singh (31), and Kshetrimayum Ashokumar (30).
According to the police, the attack was an attempt to pressure authorities into releasing four individuals who were arrested on November 16 for vandalizing the property of an elected official.
In a related development, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the S. Mongpi ridges in Kangpokpi district on Friday. The seized items include a .303 rifle, a China-made 9mm pistol, two SBBL guns, an INSAS LMG magazine (5.56mm), along with various explosives and ammunition.
Security forces have intensified operations against insurgents, taking extensive measures to prevent further unrest and ensure stability in the region.
