Shillong, Nov 25: In a thrilling clash at SSA Stadium, Shillong Lajong came from behind to continue their unbeaten streak in the I-League 2023 with a nail-biting 2-1 win against Manipur’s Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) FC.
The Shillong boys were caught off guard by TRAU’s early goal, however within a span of 5 minutes the Lajong boys rallied back with Captain Hardy Cliff Nongbri’s swift equalizer in the 18th minute.
The second half saw Lajong’s relentless dominance, backed by their passionate home crowd. In a dramatic turn, an own-goal by TRAU’s M.P Gogoi in the 87th minute sealed Lajong’s hattrick victory at home turf, securing their jump to third place in the league standings with 12 points.
In the five home matches, Shillong Lajong picked up an impressive 11 points out of 15, with draws against NEROCA and Sreenidi Deccan FC, and a hat-trick of wins against Gokulam Kerala, Delhi FC, and TRAU FC.
Shillong Lajong will now faces a challenging away game against Rajasthan FC on December 3.
