Shillong, May 3: In a major breakthrough in war against drugs, Meghalaya police arrested a major drug dealer and recovered over 200 grams of heroin from different parts of Shillong city on Wednesday morning.
The accused was nabbed by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of East Khasi Hills at Fire Brigade when he was attempting to hand over narcotics to drug users, police said.
From his possession, 5 soap cases containing heroin weighing 68.08gms. A scooty bearing registration number ML 05 Q 1031, 1 mobile phone and 1 driving license were also seized.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
Further, the ANTF recovered another 10.78gms of heroin at Demthring in the house of the accused, police said.
He also led the ANTF team to his suppliers where a raid was conducted in their house at Demthring (both husband and wife) which led to the recovery of 10 soap cases containing heroin weighing 140.02 gms and several other incriminating items taking the total seizure of heroin on Wednesday to 218.88gms, police added.
