Guwahati, Oct 21: In a disturbing incident in Jyotikuchi, Guwahati, the skeletal remains of a 75-year-old woman, identified as Purnima Devi, were discovered inside her residence. Police suspect that the elderly woman died nearly three months ago.

The discovery was made while Devi’s son, Jaydeep Dey, who reportedly suffers from a mental illness, was still living in the house. According to neighbours, Jaydeep had been residing with his mother’s remains all this time.

Following the grim revelation, the police detained him on Sunday night for questioning.

Forensic experts and police officials were immediately called to the scene, and an investigation has been launched.

A post-mortem examination of the skeletal remains will be conducted on Monday. Additionally, the police are interrogating Jaydeep’s maternal uncle and grandmother in relation to the case.
